It is the belief of the Catholic Church that the parents are the primary educators of their children and that it is the responsibility of the Catholic Church to enhance that instruction with a foundation in morality and family life through specialized instruction as a part of the religion program. This series from grades K-8 provides a vision for family life that encompasses the moral education needs of youth with the teaching of Christian virtues. The five major themes stressed in the series are:

  1. God’s gift of family
  2. God’s gift of self
  3. God’s gift of life
  4. God’s gift of love
  5. God’s gift of community

The virtues stressed are: love; responsibility; faith; hope; self-control; self-respect; generosity; obedience; justice; joy; self-acceptance; chastity; and stewardship.

There is a parent connection that is sent home at the beginning of the year. It provides the parents with what your child is learning in each of the five themes, articles called Wisdom from the Church, and things you can do with your child, called Spend Time with your child! The last section of the booklet is called Between Parent and Child and contains important information based on the age of your child.

The family Life program is apart of the Religion Program and is not graded in the lower grades. The middle school does have assessments and the grade is added to the religion grade.

Class will meet weekly for grade 3-8

Classes will meet bi-weekly for grades 1-2

The teachers in Pre-K –K will teach the class and Sr. Brigid will take the class monthly.
